the opening exhibit in New York City yesterday, I was up close and personal with La Peregrina pearl...it is absolutely stunning...the luster, with no dents or scratches (visible to my eyes) it looked perfect keeping in mind how many hands have touched it over centuries...honestly, I didn't even pay attention to the necklace...that pearl is magical on its own with its diamond leaf element.

However, I have a different feeling about the whole exhibit...it felt as thought not much planning went into it...the description of he items were printed on small plaques and placed behind display cases so people had to squeeze themselves in between to read what was displayed...few people around me were not happy about it...the walls were empty so blowing up descriptions and displaying them that way on the wall would have made more sense and filled room visually.

Secondly, the jewelry was displyed wrong...either it was too high or too low...now I am 5'7" and I felt that in some cases I had to get on my knees to view jewels or stand on my toes (in the case for emerald necklace) to see it correctly...The diamond feather brooch looked like someone took it out of the case and never put it back properly...the diamond chandelier earrings were in the corner from La Peregrina pearl and they closed it off so people couldn't get close, which didn't make sense, considering the fact that La Peregrina was more accessible with personal guard, who was nice enough to read the description of the items in the corners...that was absolutely ridiculous...

Overall impression of the exhibit was that, more attention was paid to clothes, accessories (handbags, shoes) than the Jewels....I really thought that charging $30 per person, they should have done a better job displaying such stunning pieces...especially emerald diamond necklace
