Well, the duchess of Alba doesn't have a lot of money left any more.
I hope it doesn't go to an anonymous buyer, to disappear forever. But which royal could buy it? We saw how crazy the prices were for Jackie Onassis's jewels (the fake pearls went for hundreds of thousands, didn't they?).
I guess such conspicuous consumption wouldn't go down too well right now, especially if it ends up in, say, Lichtenstein or Monaco (whose princely families *could* afford it).
