    Danish emeralds Archived Message

I love the fact that HM has a grand set of emeralds, but sadly I get distracted by two small details:

    1. The color of the stones- the stones don't seem to have the same brilliant glow that emeralds worn by Queen Elizabeth or Queen Anne-Marie have. They seem a little dark, or perhaps photos don't do them justice. The Cambridge emeralds seem to be charged with green electricity for example.

    2. The way the stones hang on the neck- these stones seem to dangle independently and often there are a few that sit in a random way on HM's neck. I guess sometimes I just like symmetry.

: Queen Margrethe wear the emeralds parure with
: gowns in all diiferent green colours but i
: can't remeber she has worn it ever with a
: gown in another colour like Queen Sonja does
: it frequently with her emerald Parure.

: Thanks Marianne for letting us know that
: Members on RJWMB and GREMB were mentioned in
: this new lovely book about Queen's
    : Margrethe's Portraits...absolutely
: fantastic...Congrats to all the fellow
    : posters
    :
: In addition I really liked this new unveiled
    : portrait of 3 generations (I call it)...I
: think of it as Past, present and future
: rulers because to me QMII represents past in
: addition to present with Frederik
    :
: The details in this painting are done
    : absolutely stunning...mostly of course I
: paid attention to the Jewels...and I have to
: admit that the painted emerald tiara looks
: better (IMHO) than the actual one worn by
: the Queen I always was amazed by the
: necklace (stone size and design) and
: chandelier earrings and corsage..but tiara
    : always looked like unbalanced...not
: literally but more in the design...I believe
: that the central emerald should have been
: placed little higher...or larger stone
: should have been used to have more balance
    : between tiara and a necklace...that way
: visually it would have looked more complete,
    : if that makes sense.

: The only thing that I can't remember is
: Queen Margrethe wearing emerald parure with
: this pink dress...I just went through all
: the photos that I have of her in this dress
: and either she wore Pearl parure or Crown
: diamonds but never emeralds..I wonder if the
: Queen was painted first, and the jewels
: added later by her request? because I surely
    : don't remember this combination.
