Too bad we don't know. Like you i assume they belong to the Royal Collection and that would mean that the countess cannot alter the pieces as she sees fit. Maybe she'll get a better tiara for the diamond jubilee. HM has plenty of pieces in her collection. It would be nice to see the Surrey fringe or queen Mary's diamond and pearl necklace/tiara on Sophie. --Previous Message-- : : I don't believe we have ever been told. : But I believe the historic elements used in : the modern tiara are probably treated as : Royal Collection pieces by now. : I would not expect them to be personal : property of the Queen but it's difficult to : know. : : They might have been considered part of the : items Queen Victoria left to the crown, as : alternate elements for one of the three : tiaras, but it's difficult to know how these : elements have been viewed down each of the : generations. : : : --Previous Message-- : Is the tiara owned by the countess, the : earl, : the queen or is it part of the : crownproperties? : : : : --Previous Message-- : : Those four elements are unlikely to be taken : apart as they were made for a version of : Queen Victoria's Regal Circlet. : : :
