The East Indies Bracelet was massive and a remnant of the Dutch colonial past hence it was broken up. At least it is now worn! I doubt we would ever have seen it again on a person if it had remained in it's original shape. --Previous Message-- : Now that is a most glittering bracelet indeed. : One can wonder what was the reason for the : royal family to 'break up' the Netherlands : East-Indies Bracelet while there are : impressive bracelets like this one? : : I had a discussion with a jewelry expert and : she stated that reconstructing the : Netherlands East-Indies Bracelet is : technically no problem at all, but most : important is: does the royal family wánt it : to be reconstructed? If they think that the : large bracelet split in two nice bracelets, : a ring with an impressive stone and probably : three broches serve them better, then it is : their right to do so. : : I had not thought about that because I : considered the present state of jewels as : 'holy' but indeed the whole history of the : collection is one of breaking up and : creating again. : : This bracelet on Máxima looks like something : acquired or a forgotten one in the : cassettes. I have no idea. A very beautiful, : inventive and glittering bracelet it is, I : think. : : : :
