Has it ever been proved that the maltese tiara was from Queen Alexandra? Speculation only I thought.
--Previous Message-- : You're right. Queen Maud didn't receive a : fringe necklace/tiara from her parents. : : The eldest daughter, Princess Louise, : Duchess of Fife received a fringe : tiara/necklace as a wedding gift from her : parents, The Prince and Princess of Wales. : From Ursula's site: : http://www.royal-magazin.de/england/fife-louise-wedding.htm : : Princess Victoria's fringe necklace, we : assume came from her parents. : : Queen Maud received the diamond and pearl : tiara from her parents (although the one : worn in Norway is a copy from Garrard's who : made the original). : http://madhattery.royalroundup.com/2010/04/birthday-dinner-at-fredensborg-palace-hm-the-queen-of-norway/ : : Not sure when Queen Maud received the : Maltese bandeau/cross tiara from Queen : Alexandra. : : I don't think Princess Maud : : --Previous Message-- : Not important, but as far as I know, king : Edwards youngest daughter never possesed a : fringe tiara. : : --Previous Message-- : : Thank you.Boffer. : : --Previous Message-- : I sadly do not have any other reference. But : I : don't doubt Field on this case. : It is extremely likely that Princess : Victoria would have had a fringe, since all : of Edward VII's daughters did, and she died : childless it seems logical that she left her : jewels to various family members. : And this is the best provenance for the : fringe necklace that the Queen Mother used : to wear with Queen Mary's tiara, as she wore : them prior to her daughter ever being given : a fringe necklace, so she could not have : borrowed that, and the Girdle is too large : to be worn as a necklace, so it seems : logical that the QEQM also had a fringe : necklace. : : : : : :
