What a lovely idea to start a thread on this subject!
The en tremblant technique has not been restricted to brooches or aigrettes. Oscar Masin, a 19th century jewel designer working for - among others - Mellerio dits Meller in Paris was considered an expert on applying this 'pampille en tremblant' technique, of attaching diamonds (ornaments) on small springs, on tiaras. A well known example is a Diamond and Sapphire Tiara by Mellerio made for Queen Emma of the Netherlands in 1881.
