To Christina , You were lucky to see Cartier’s collection .You are right the tiara was made at the express wish of HM Queen Elisabeth as she did nor have a lot of jewelry by her own and her husband was King Leopold Ii’s Nephew.

Her Mother in law , the Countess of Flanders had part of her jewels stolen. A strange affair !

The only one who wore also the Cartier’s tiara was Princess Lilian but with without Glory!

: I've had the previledge to view Queen
: Elizabeth's tiara at close on a Cartier
: exibition some years ago, and I can tell tou
: that it is really a very beautiful and
    : delicate piece.
: I was surprised by it's small size in
: diameter, by picture I've always thought it
: would be bigger, but images can sometimes be
    : misleading.
: I believe the tiara was made at the express
: wish of the Queen, so I assume it would fit
: her head size perfectly (HM was not very
: tall, she seemed very delicate).

: If the base and the top parts (pearls &
: emeralds) of this tiara are removed
: entirely, the tiara looks similar in design
: to the Spencer family tiara.
