as Nellie, hence my duplicate reply, and I haven't seen the below thread.
I would still say this book is important to any one who is interested in gem set items in the Royal collection as it is going to show at least a sword and a box as far as I can tell and maybe some items that are older that the 20th century
--Previous Message-- : Well given that it is published by the Royal : Collection itself and its very affordable : price I would say this is the programme to : the exhibition that the palace are expecting : people to buy as they attend the exhibition : themselves. (but this is just my : interpretation of the information we are : given in its name) : : Diamonds: A Jubilee Celebration (Royal : Collection Publications - Souvenir Album) : : then when you look at this description on : Amazon : : - Published to celebrate Queen Elizabeth IIs : Diamond Jubilee, this accessible history : explores the use of diamonds in works of art : of all kinds, from personal and official : jewellery and regalia to precious boxes and : ceremonial swords. It examines the special : qualities of diamonds and the royal uses to : which they have been put throughout the : centuries; and includes newly commissioned : photography in close-up detail of each : piece. A beautifully illustrated publication : providing an introduction to a magnificent : royal inheritance. - : : Though I wouldn't expect it all to be : jewellery as it mentions swords and boxes. : And it probably has some quite old things in : it going back before the 20th century. : : It looks like it is going to have some good : information and high quality photos, so I : for one would buy it based on this : information !!! : : --Previous Message-- : I was looking at QD on amazon, and there was : a : link to another Royal Collection : publication, to be pub 7/15/12 - DIAMONDS, A : JUBILEE CELEBRATION, edited by Caroline de : Guitaut. The price is $24.95 for 120 pages : (as opposed to $95 and 320 pages for QD). : : Does anyone know what this book might be : like? : : :
