In 1970, after the death of Prince Viggo, a diamond and pearl tiara, which had belonged to his wife, was put up for auction. The catalogue revealed that not all of the pearls were real - and what looked like emeralds were in fact stones of green glass. For the rest, it contained diamonds, some of them brilliant cut. It is widely accepted that this tiara today belongs to the Vind family, descendants of Prince Viggo's brother Erik. But why was it put up for auction then? My guess would be that the Vind family inherited the tiara, put it up for auction but decided to retract it because of too low bids. But this is pure speculation on my part.
