Seems to me that there may be enough opals languishing in the vaults to make a parure. Was it Queen Mary or Queen Alexandra who disliked opals? I have vague recollections of opals being removed from the Oriental Tiara, possibly a gold tiara of Queen Victoria's, and possibly also a necklace. If opals were removed from those items, perhaps there were more pieces altered. Wish my memory would serve me better. :-)
