During the annual Christmas "photo op" when the British royal family & guests walk to church, you can kind of trace the history of fur-wearing based on what the queen wears.
But you can also see that Princess Margaret continued to wear *her* full-length mink coat while her sister "made do" with cloth. I think Princess Margaret was the last one to go all-out with fur, while the other ladies wore bits and pieces, like collars, hats and/or trimmed gloves.
