To me the details and proportions of both tiaras look quite differently. Besides, Mafalda and Duck were married into different branches of the Hessen family. There was no close relationship at all. My guess is, that Ducky's tiara didn't stand the test of time, and was dismantled, as happened to so many jewellery.
