I went to see the Queens Diamonds exhibition yesterday but started the day in Piccadilly having a quick look in Bentley & Skinners window. As my daughter put it as we got close 'you'd better stop Dad because there's no way she's going to walk past without looking!'. Anyway among the usual brooches, bracelets and tiaras was the 'Downton' tiara and I remember thinking how beautiful it was without realising what I was looking at. If I had known I would have spent much longer standing outside looking (not allowed in because it's obviously way out of my league). It really is a beautiful piece in real life.
