Thank you Dawn for taking my suggestion in the right spirit!
I think there could have been an exchange of many gifts when Queen Marie and family travelled in the US and that could include American native artifacts.
I found two more pics - one is surely the same head ornament as Lorenzo posted? And the other, of course, is not !!
--Previous Message-- : I checked the New York Times archives but did : not get much out of it re: either Helen of : Romania (later Queen of Greece) or Queen : Marie of Romania. : : I usually turn to the Library of Congress : newspaper collection for any information but : this collection currently only covers : newspapers from the 1820s through 1922 only. : Marie of Romania as you said was in the : United States in 1926. The newspaper : collection stops at 1922. I guess it may be : because people who were born in the 1920s : and second half of 1900s are still alive : today. Maybe the Library will add to that : collection the later newspaper reports some : day in the future. : : Similar to the idea when each decade of the : U.S. Census records would not be open to the : public for 75 years. The 1940 Census just : recently became accessible. And the 1950 : Census will not be opened until 2025. :
