There is no reason for interesting threads to slip into oblivion and need to be recreated in order to keep the discussion going. Very few people keep old threads alive by scrolling downwards and replying, this is because they know people are less likely to scroll down to read the old threads.
This is a shame and I am finally going to air my opinion about this. There was an experiment here to change the format to allow new posts to file on top, no matter the age of the original post. It nearly unanimously shot down by posters here. Most message boards function in that way these days.
Why are we so far behind the times? Why let a good discussion fade away? Do we really need a new thread about Ingebord's emeralds, Fabiola's Franco tiara, or the reappearance of aquamarines? No! There are lovely threads already, why can't we just add replies to them as the mood strikes us? Top posting will bring new life to a discussion that might have not yet run it's course. If they venture OT so be it, they do now anyway. Like this post! :-)
