The picture in the newspaper on the microfilm roll looked a bit clearer than when I made some copies of it. To me, it looked like a double row of diamonds in that tiara when I looked at the picture direcly on the microfilm roll rather than looking at the copy itself. There was a slight space between two "rows," though. Anne's was closely put together, I think. Are you sure there is an ermine portion of her coronet above the first row? From the direct appearance on the microfilm roll machine, she appeared to wear pearl-dangling earring set and several rows of pearl necklaces. I forgot to add the captions above and below the picture which are as follows: Above: AGED MOTHER OF BRITISH QUEEN DIES Below: BULLETIN: "London: (AP) The state visit of King George and Queen Elizabeth to France was postponed until July 19 because of the death early today of the queen's mother, the Countess of Strathmore and Kinghorne. The visit had been scheduled for June 28. London: (AP)--King George VI decreed ony family mourning for Queen Elizabeth's mother, the 76-year-old Countess of Strathmore and Kinghorne, who died early today. He still had not decided, however, whether to alter plans for a royal visit he and Queen Elizabeth are scheduled to make to Paris next Tuesday. The official announcement that there would be no court mourning for the countess, did not mention plans for the sovereigns' visit aboard. The announcement was made by the Earl of Cromer, the lord chamberlain. Some sources said the death would not affect the royal arrangements but others said the sovereign might go to Paris alone. The countess, wife of the Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne, had been gravely ill of heart trouble for some time. Lord Strathmore, 83, a stately moustachioed figure, was at his wife's bedside." End of quote. --Previous Message-- : I think the "top" portion of the : tiara is actually the bottom (clipped) : ermine-border of her coronet. I *think*. : Not a double-row tiara. :
