I believe it is the Nizam of Hyderabad Cartier Tiara. From the date, and the access to jewels the young Queen had at the time in 1952 (prior to the death of Queen Mary), she would not have had many other tiaras to choose from other than those which were given as wedding-gifts. What's more, all the other jewels she wears are her wedding gifts, the Sapphire Necklace from her father, Queen Mary's Diamond Bangles, the Dorset Bow Brooch on her sash. Admittedly it is a bad depiction of it, but in my mind, judging by the date and the rest of the portrait, it is undoubtedly the Hyderabad Tiara. --Previous Message-- : : Can anyone identify the tiara worn in this : portrait please? : Could it be the Sao Paulo?
