No, I cannot agree with you in this occasion. I may not particularly like those diamonds rivières in her ears, but they convey a message the Bruneians understand. We Europeans like and prefer good old stuff with history attached to it and don't care a hoot if diamonds are rose-cut or otherwise. In fact, when we discuss rose-cut diamonds, we get all romantic how beautiful those old diamonds work with candlelight. The Asians have a different take on jewels; They want serious bling, preferably with the price-tag attached . To them the prongs of the Borneo tiara would mean nothing at all, while these brand-new rivières are the kind of bling they like and know how to value. Same goes for the diamond bandeau. It is simple, but the stones are enormous and therefore suitably impressive in Brunei....
