It should be remembered that as well as these Emerald earrings (speculated to be part of the Greville bequest), the Queen Mother also had in her possession the cabochon emerald earrings that had been presented as a wedding present to Queen Alexandra in 1863 (the ones now worn by the Duchess of Cornwall).

Thank you very much Baxter for showing this portrait of Queen Elizabeth wearing these pendant emerald earrings along with Queen Mary's Delhi Durbar Emerald Necklace - it certainly makes a nice change from seeing her wearing the same cluster-stud earrings. It is a shame Her Majesty hasn't worn this necklace in public in almost a decade...

: Thanks for those pics. At first I thought
: they were different, but after looking at
: pics I have I think they are the same.

: I had never noticed the prongs until looking
: at your pic. I had always thought they were
: emerald cabachons with top mounts, but now I
: realize there are prongs from the back of
    : the stones.

: As you can see from this series of British
: Pathe stills, the emeralds look wider from
: the sides than in the front view.

: On both the final version (detail, left) and
