I do not like the design of the diadem either, it is clear that its aim was to impress rather than to be esthetically beautiful. It is most unlikely that this enormous diadem will be worn during the Investiture of the new King. The best bet is when a counterpart packs out and the new Queen does not want to "surrender".
The Grand Duchess of Luxembourg wears her enormous diamond diadem? Queen Máxima will wear her grandest diadem too. The Queen of Sweden wears her Bragança wall of diamonds? Queen Máxima will wear her grandest diadem too. That Queen Beatrix never did this remains a mystery. The influence of Prince Claus, whom had a total different idea about the functioning and use of regal splendour than Prince Bernhard, maybe has played a role in this.
When the new Queen will once start to wear items as the large bow devant de corsage, or the impressive collier with the old rectangular thickstone diamonds, then a re-appearance of the Stuart diadem will not be far away. By the way: during her Investiture in 1948 Queen Juliana wore the impressive diamond-and-ruby devant de corsage belonging to the Mellero Ruby Parure. Also never worn by Queen Beatrix. The Investiture 2013 would be a perfect moment for a re-appearance of this devant-de-corsage, preferrably on a blue gown too.
