It is usually a cross. My mother still wears one that never comes off no matter what she is wearing otherwise in the way of jewellery. --Previous Message-- : Queen Margrethe of Denmark is often seen : wearing this so called string under her : fabulous jewels on gala events (and I supose : also on her daily life). : : I believe its a long thin gold string, and : most likely has some pendant hanging from : it, that is most dear to the wearer and is : never taken off. Perhaps a very special : gift, or inheritance, with much personal : significance. : : : : : --Previous Message-- : : My guess has alway been that they are : wearing a very personal item. : : : --Previous Message-- : Hi all, : : I've always noticed when seeing these old : royal photographs that the royal ladies : sometime would wear a string around their : neck beside their necklaces or chokers. I've : always wondered what this string is for? I : searched but couldn't find an answer. Does : anyone know more about it? Thanks!! : : : : : : : : : :
