I´ve to confess that I didn´t agree with you. It´s a nice piece of jewellery, indeed. But as long as I see it´s a - very elaborate - part of a traditional frisian costume. Might be that Queen Wilhelmina for this reason didn´t wore it except with the traditonal frisian costume. To wear it as a comb or whatever would cut it off of this meaning. When she got this gift it was doubtless made to be worn with costume, as a part of nederlands identity and history. I guess the royal family has no lack of jewellery, so there´s no need in change it to something else. But to see little Crownprincess Amalia in frisian costume at King´s Day would be nice.
