Re: State Opening of Parliament Archived Message

It should be noted that various newspapers and websites are commenting that these earring were a gift from Prince Albert to Queen Victoria.

The rest of their commentary on the Queen Jewels seems to be accurate, so my guess that the Press Office has released some information on those jewels worn by the Queen, to the media outlets that have made enquiries.

: Thanks again Boffer. Field does have a
: number of pics of the Queen wearing these
    : earrings.
: The pendant pearls could be from Queen
    : Charlotte's time.
: The pic mismatch shows a "pin"
: right through each pendant pearl which is
: why I said the pics were a mismatch but that
: does not mean that Queen Victoria did not
    : have others, of course.

    :
: I believe you are referring to the Duchess
    : of Gloucester's Pearl Earrings.
    :
: Which the Duchess of Teck sometimes wore,
: simply as pendant pearls suspended from the
: diamond and pearl cluster stud (without the
: scrolling frame). However, these are now
: worn by The Queen with the scrolling frame -
: and the pendant pearls are smaller than
: these large ones which the Queen wore today.
    :
: It is important to note that Queen Mary and
: Queen Alexandra never wore, nor had a
: fondness for pendant earrings, thus beyond
: the ones they may have inherited, they never
    : acquired anymore.
    :
: Crucially, the reason which means I have no
: doubts as to these earrings worn today by
: the Queen, as belonging to Queen Victoria is
: the fact that they were worn by the Queen in
    : 1952.
    :
: Beyond the jewels that she was given as
: wedding presents, the only other jewels that
: the young Queen had access to were those
: "heirlooms of the crown" - as
: Queen Mary was still alive.
    :
: I see no reason to doubt that these earrings
: are very old and could date to Queen
: Victoria or even before, they could have
: been among the jewels that Queen Adelaide
: passed to Victoria in 1837, or indeed could
: have been amongst Queen Charlotte's jewels
: which were not returned to Hanover (as the
: majority of the jewels which were included
: in the Hanoverian Claim concerned Queen
    : Charlotte's diamonds).

    : Thanks Boffer.
: I looked at Field and believe she has a
: mismatch of pics so I don't thnk the
    : earrings were Queen Victoria's.
: More likely Queen Mary's - part of some we
: discussed fairly recently, and which I can't
    : find.

: The earring worn by the Queen are large
: pendant pearl earrings, suspended from two
: diamond collets - Field has referred to
: these as 'Queen Victoria's Pearl Earrings.
    :
: These earrings have been worn often by the
: Queen, including during the State Banquet
: hosted in honour of President Barrack Obama.
: And notably, in respect to this occasion,
: they were worn by the Queen to her first
: State Opening of Parliament as Queen in
    : 1952.
    :
: Interestingly as well, is that the Duchess
: of Cornwall wears the same rose brooch
: attaching her sash, as she did in Amsterdam.
    :
: This rose brooch was first given to Queen
: Mary as a wedding gift in 1893, from the
: West Yorkshire Regiment. In 1923, Queen Mary
: presented this rose brooch to Queen
: Elizabeth, The Queen Mother as a wedding
    : gift.
    :
: It is now being worn by the Duchess of
    : Cornwall.

: I had forgotten that the Crown Jeweller
: attends, to keep an eye on the crown and
    : regalia.
    :
: And I am trying to identify the earrings
: worn by the Queen with those stunning drop
    : pearls.

: Today we get to see the Imperial Crown in
