State Visits are not about changing jewellery and dresses but about strengthening political, economical and cultural ties between countries. For god sake why should we have 3 archaic State Visits with carriage rides to the UK, Sweden or Belgium just because we have a new monarch? Relations are excellent and why bother QEII, KCG or KAII? NO it's much better to invest in new upcoming countries and markets. South America and Africa are good places to start. Incoming State Visits? Argentina! Indonesia! Vietnam! But this is again very, very OT people! Oh and No, Henri these Emerald earrings are not new. HM Queen Maxima has had them for many years already. Her private property. --Previous Message-- : Thank you for the pictures. I wonder if those : emerald earrings are a new addition? : : These visits (Luxembourg, Belgium, Germany, : Denmark) were announced as : "Introductory Visits" but in Dutch : media it was more or less explained that : this was a new policy by the King. There are : already excellent relationships with : countries as Luxembourg, Belgium, Germany, : etc. So why doing expensive two- or three : day State Visits with everything included? : It seems the new King want to use the : instrument of full blown State Visits for : new countries to introduce a whole fleet of : Dutch businesses and oraganizations with : him. This means: the booming economies. : : If this is true, (Dutch media can explain : things quite differently than was initially : meant), then we will not see State Visits to : other European monarchies or the main : countries like France or Germany. I can not : imagine that is true. In the last years of : Queen Beatrix the focus was already on : states as Bahrain, Dubai, the United Arab : Emirates, Qatar, Singapore, Malaysia and far : less on European countries (Luxembourg was : the last). : : At least State Visits used to have three : changes a day for Dutch royal ladies : (morning engagements, afternoon engagements, : evening engagements) and all with hats, : gloves and the whole thing. During this : Introductory Visit the Queen wore a hat, : gloves, nice jewelry but that was it. No : other outfits, no evening program. In this : sense it was really boring. : : : :
