Dutch Devant de corsages Archived Message

I suppose Queen Juliana was the last one who really did them justice. Queen Beatrix did wear the large diamond and pearl corsage before turning it into a brooch. And the two diamond and sapphire bows 1 and 2 were still worn as corsages in the 80's but that was it I think. The Emerald Brooch or Corsage was still worn as such untill very recently. Recently Princess Laurentien opted to wear a small version of the huge diamond bow which belongs to the House Diamonds. It was used as a devant de corsage by Queens Wilhelmina and Juliana.

: You are a Gem! Thanks! Lovely Piece indeed.
    : It
: was one of many expensive jewellery presents
: from King Willem III to his young wife Queen
: Emma. The first years he gave her many
: diamond and sapphire pieces which formed a
    : lovely parure.

: Among the pics I once scanned from heaps of
: royal mags is this one, from an old issue of
    : Vorsten mag.
: Since it also includes drawings of various
: settings of this heirloom I think some of
: you will like seeing it - even if you
    : shouldn't like sapphires (totally
: unimaginable for me though )
