With the arrival of King Willem-Alexander, a new so-called chiffre, a gold-with-emaille sign worn by courtiers, was designed:
The monthly magazine Vorsten Royale discovered that courtiers wear another chiffre when they are escorting Queen Máxima:
According to Vorsten Royale this is exceptional: they claim that no any other partner of an European monarch has an own chiffre worn by courtiers. In the Dutch case it is somewhat peculiar because the courtiers belong to the House of The King and are detached into the service of the Queen and/or Princesses when needed. The chiffre can give the wrong impression that Queen Máxima has her own Household. The Hofdame in question has other nice bijoux, by the way.
