That is indeed a beautiful picture of a true Lady I may add. I see the ring and it seems to have a quite big stone. So we started with an engagement ring and now we have two! Thank you for sharing that information: as told previously I had no idea there was another ring. Now I just find strange that the enamel ring keeps being called engagement ring (even in publications that had consulted the Royal House).
But a ruby ring also makes sense since the red (Bordeaux to be more precise) is allegedly the House of Braganza color.
It is also nice to see heirloom jewels especially when we know what happened to most of King Miguel pre-exile jewels. It is sad, however, that we do not have a clearer picture.
Well, perhaps Prince Afonso will one day propose a young lady with that ruby ring.
The pre-wedding gala jewels are a very interesting set but I do not know much about them either. You are right: the book does not mention that set. But I have some pictures and we can discuss those jewels in another thread. What do you think?
