I have seen this weird combination more, especially during 'cultural events' in the framework of a State Visit: ladies in long but with no diadems, gentlemen usually in black tie but sometimes in suit and tie. Of course I prefer a fullblown gala in white tie with grand jewels but that happens only in Denmark, these days.
--Previous Message-- : I don't get why the women are in long gowns : and quite substantial jewels, but the men of : the family could not even bother to wear : black tie. Really if men are not wearing : black tie, women should not wear long : dresses let alone grand jewels! : : --Previous Message-- : I noticed on HRH an equally dazzling Diamond : Bow Brooch which contains some substantial : and rather rare pink diamonds. Not to : mention HRH's stunning diamond earrings, : bracelets and sparkling diamond necklace or : should I say collier. But yes, the other : ladies were rather bare. I wouldn't mind a : sparkler here and there on the other ladies : on such occasions. How terribly nouveau : riche of me. : : : : : : --Previous Message-- : : : On the very evening of the official, : nation-wide farewell party in honour of her : mother-in-law, who was Queen for 33 years? : Sorry to say but I think this is simply 'not : done' and Maxima should have known that the : place of honour & all attention were to : go to the former (reigning) Queen ! : This is soooooo nouveau-riche ! : Sorry to hurt your feelings : : : :
