And could it be as simple as a couple of things.
Firstly that she doesn't really like the necklace nor the tiara. Also the necklace is hard to wear as to show it off it needs a very low neckline dress which she stopped wearing as she grew older
(personally I hate it when a necklace and the neckline of a dress clash and the neckline of the dress is too high that it obscures the necklace)

: Jinga can I ask what were the Nizam's troubles
: apart from losing his state ?
: I think the Queen wore his tiara only once
: after becoming the Monarch in 1952.
: But she then wore the 3 brooches, which
: formed the bulk of the tiara, a lot.

: As a princess, Elizabeth owned the Nizam of
: Hyderabad and the Girls of Great Britain and
: Ireland tiaras and I think the love knot
: tiara. She also had the halo tiara, but she
: never wore it. When she became Queen, of
: course, she had the Vladimir, Queen
: Alexandra's fringe, and eventually the
: sapphire and ruby and aquamarine tiaras. I
: suppose as Queen she felt more need for a
: ruby tiara than for the Nizam diamond tiara.
: It's also true that the Nizam necklace was
: more important to her before she received
: Queen Victoria's jubilee necklace and the
: various Saudi gift necklaces. But I also
: continue to think the Nizam gift may have
: come to seem a bit inappropriate given the
    : Nizam's troubles.
