My personal thought would be that Kate has been given a free choice from the vault and that this one is a good choice because (a) it went well with her dress (b) she likes it and (c) it has no Diana links which might be awkward.
--Previous Message-- : Just a thought: since I was thinking on the : 1954-2002 dissapearance of the necklace, I : asume that this might be because, in its : origin it was a wedding gift given to a : princess, who stop wearing it as a queen. : Then it came back when the Golden Jubilee. : And since HM is v ery elocuent with the : wearing of their jewels, is quite : significative to have lend this particular : necklace to a princess, as a signal of : aproval to her and her behaviour as a such. : And with a kind of jewel directly connected : with the Queen herself, her marriage, and : not with any other member as Qm or P. Diana. : Just an hypothesis : : --Previous Message-- : Ah, I forgot about the Jubilee dinner. : Interesting that was the occasion that both : the necklace and Queen Mary's stomacher made : their triumphal returns to the rotation -- : and the debut of the complete stomacher in : the present reign. : : --Previous Message-- : QEII wore the Nizam necklace : : : 2002/06/17 - GOLDEN JUBILEE DINNER FOR : EUROPEAN SOVEREIGNS - WINDSOR CASTLE : : 2006/10/19 - SV BALTIC - BANQUET TALINN - : ESTONIE : : 2009/11/27 - ST BANQUET COMMONWEALTH - : PORT-OF-SPAIN-TRINIDAD & TOBAGO : : --Previous Message-- : Ever since Her Majesty and the Duchess of : Cambridge decided to throw all royal jewel : watchers into a frenzy earlier this week, I : have wondered about the recent history of : the necklace? : : When was the last time HM wore it in public : before the Government Banquet held in Quebec : in October 2002? : : It seems to me that it had not been seen in : quite a long time before that but, since : then, has featured semi-regularly in the : necklace rotation. : : : : : :
