In this weeks Billed Bladet there is a picture of the queens engagement ring. It says that the prince consort bought it at Van Cleff & Arpels on place Vendôme in Paris 1966. That's new to me. I was of that impression, that it was two family stones from the Monpezat family, given to him by his parents, so he could design a proper ring for his fiancé to come.
Do we know if he took the stones to VC&A and had them to work out the design of the ring?
