Thanks Marianne... I am honestly going with Claes on this one because when stories are told over and over again they are changed by each author..and it is not so far fetched that Princess Benedikte might not know the "real" story behind this tiara. I think the actual Will of Queen Victoria which Claes had a chance to read is more valid proof in this case and if I recall correctly, didn't will stipulate that the grandchildren of Queen Victoria will inherit important pieces ONLY if they marry into another Royal house? --Previous Message-- : Thanks for this post. But I thought Princess : Ingrid inherited the tiara from her paternal : grandmother Queen Victoria. I have read the : last will made by Queen Victoria. : : Swedish papers and magazines writes a lot : about the wedding gifts to then Princess : Ingrid in 1935, but no note about this : tiara. : : And King Gustaf V gave to his granddaughter : Princess Ingrid the big jewel which today is : wearing as tiara by Queen Anne Marie of : Greece, her daughter and daughter-in-laws. : : --Previous Message-- : In the latest issue of lovely Swedish royal : mag Kungliga Magasinet , which I just : received, there's a whole lot of info & : pics to enjoy! : I shared some of my first impresions here: : : : http://members3.boardhost.com/scandinavia/msg/1395927055.html : Among the things I loved reading was the : fact that Princess Benedikte, being one of : Princess Madeleine's sponsors, intentionally : used Queen Sofia's star tiara on Madeleine's : wedding day last year. : Princess Benedikte inherited this tiara from : her Swedish-born mother Ingrid, who received : it as a wedding present from King Gustav V : of Sweden at the time of her May 1935 : wedding to Crown Prince Frederik (the later : King Frederik IX) of Denmark. : Great pics in this mag and much info! : Highly recommended : : :
