I know that this topic has been discussed previously. http://members2.boardhost.com/royal-jewels/msg/archive/1347118030.html My sincere thanks to Nellie for providing me with this link. I apologise if I have overlooked any previous postings. As other posters have noted, the German Emperor gave his sister, Princess Sophie, a turquoise tiara and necklace as a wedding gift. The description matches this http://www.pinterest.com/pin/169729479680827013/. If this image was previously posted on this board, I apologise for not having found it. So far I have only seen photos of Princess Francoise (Christopher) of Greece wearing a smaller version of the tiara with the bottom section removed. Descriptions of Sophie's wedding gifts in various newspaper in Britain,(for example see the Daily News, UK, 26 October 1889), Australia and New Zealand state that the Princess was also given a turquoise cross of great value which had originally belonged to Princess Charlotte of the UK. At some stage after her death, her husband, Prince Leopold, gave it to Queen Victoria who gave it to Victoria, the Princess Royal, later Empress Frederick, who gave it to her daughter, Princess Sophie. Another gift given by Princess Sophie's mother was described as a large round turquoise surrounded by diamonds which could be worn as a brooch or a bracelet. It is said that this was initially pinned onto the Princess Royal's christening gown by Prince Albert. Would anyone have any additional information or photos of these two jewels?
