In the book "Mémoires Insolites" by Prince Michael of Greece, on pages16 and 17, the Prince gives an account of the origin of the turquoises and diamonds parure.
He says that his grand-mother Queen Olga possessed a great quantity of jewels, to the extent that she left complete sets of jewels of different precious stones to each of her five daughters-in-law. The Prince goes on saying that the four elder brothers received the most precious ones such as pearls, diamonds, rubies and emeralds, while his father Prince Christopher, being the youngest received the "poor" stones, the turquoises, even if they were of high quality and large size.
