I missed Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien during the State Banquet for the Chinese President. Maybe because Princess Beatrix took the honneurs for them? We will no longer see Princess Margriet and Professor Van Vollenhoven during State Banquets. It remains to see if Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien will now fulfill the "Margriet and Pieter"-role and appear in all their finery at State events. The best is of course: the King and the Queen, Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien, the Duke and the Duchess of Parma. Eventually Princess Beatrix. The example is the Duke and Duchess of Calabria: the Duke is a cousin to the King of Spain and is chef of another Royal House (Bourbon-Deux Siciles) and does attend State Banquets so now and then. The Duke of Parma is a cousin to King Willem-Alexander, is chef of another Royal House (Bourbon-Parma) and as a descendant of Queen Wilhelmina he can use jewels from the Foundation. Until the three daughters of the King are old enough to attend State Banquets, we maybe will see very few diadems as long as the King does not extend the invitation policy.
