And yet Henri M. might be right about the changing jewel policy in the Netherlands. The bejewelled Pre-Inauguration Gala might be indication for that. But I'm not intirely sure that it is just due to the personal taste of Beatrix & Claus on one side, and WA & Maxima on the other side. Times also have changed: Back in the times of Beatrix' Inauguration there was a strong anti-monarchy movement protesting for a republic.
