Bracelet on QM's right arm? Archived Message

Thank you for these photos, Nellie. Do you know what bracelet HM is wearing on her right arm in the first photograph? Presumably it is a large emerald to match her other jewels; yet, I suspect it cannot be the carved emerald given by the Ladies of India as it would appear that she is wearing that item to secure her robe. I don't recollect having seen The Queen (QEII) wearing this bracelet. Could the central stone be the emerald which today is owned by the Duchess of Gloucester which she wears as a centre piece in one of the tiaras QM gave to her mother-in-law as a wedding gift. --Previous Message-- : : I think these two occasions show her : inventiveness at its extreme. : I wonder how many hours she spent in her : boudoir testing out the arrangements : possible with that lot! : : : : : --Previous Message-- : Not permanently, but I would definitely have : it as an option. But I personally think it : wouldn't be all that hard to put them back : now. After all, the Dutch royals have shown : that you can totally overhaul a piece, and : put it back again. But nobody was better : IMHO than the brilliant Queen Mary! : : --Previous Message-- : : : Girls with pearls. Would you put these : back? : : : : : --Previous Message-- : What I wouldn't give for the chance to make : some changes to the tiaras now in : use!....those upright pearls and emeralds : would be back in a flash! : : --Previous Message-- : : According to Munn she particularly enjoyed : remodelling her tiaras. : Just think of her era of upright pearls and : emeralds on top, then they disappeared. : : : --Previous Message-- : How true! I've often imagined Queen Mary : sitting in the vast Windsor vault tinkering : away. I can only imagine how much fun she : must have had coming up with some of her : jeweled concoctions. : : --Previous Message-- : : Actually, I think the royal ladies of times : long past had too much time on their hands : and could play with their jewels and concoct : special arrangements, to send off to the : jewellers for making up for fancy dress : parties. : : : --Previous Message-- : I hadn't thought of that Nellie.....and it : makes total sense.....the versatility of : royal jewels never ceases to amaze me! : : --Previous Message-- : : I quite agree. The ends must have been : removed. : : : --Previous Message-- : I believe the other occasion that Queen Mary : wore the GOGB&I was at the Duchess of : Devonshire's costume ball in 1897. I can't : for the life of me figure out how she was : able to shrink it down to this size. I : would think that even closed completely in a : circle, that it's circumference would be : wider. : : --Previous Message-- : : Queen Mary did wear this tiara in a tight : formation at least twice and once described : as a crown. : : : :
