Re: QEII ruby brooches you unidentified... Archived Message

Not from that day, I'm afraid. It was only after the WIlliamsburg sighting that one day I suddenly "connected the dots" (or gems!) as you might say and it was then obvious it was the same brooch. I've looked long & hard but nothing clearer has come to light, to my knowledge.

    : Thanks GillW
: I don't think I would have guessed that it
: was the Sri Lankan floral spray brooch. I
: did not think that it was that big so I went
: back to pictures from Williamsburg in 2007
: and low and behold it is that big !
: I guess it is just the angle of the picture
: that sort of distorts it.
: This pic I uploaded was from a 2005 trip to
: Alberta and it rained...a lot! HM always
: had her rain coat on so you never saw the
: brooch. The picture I did find was when she
: presented the insignia of a Knight of
: Justice in the Most Venerable Order of the
: Hospital of St John of Jerusalem to the then
: Lt. Govenor of Alberta Norman Kwong.
: Do you have any other pictures that show the
    : brooch off any better?
    : Thanks again.
    : Cheers!

: Bryce, the brooch on the caramel coat is the
: one we initially called the Williamsburg
: Bouquet (but it has since been renamed
: following some research by others into the
: provenance, but I can't remember what we use
    : now!!)

: A couple of ruby brooches that you did not
: mention were the Tudor Rose and the York
: Rose Bracelet (the center flower can be worn
: as a brooch). I do not think that QEII has
: worn it this way but Queen Mary did.
: Other brooches with rubies in them would be
: the basket of flowers (birth of Prince
: Charles), the bowl of fruit, the South
: African peacock, the blue and pink double
: flower I think has some rubies in the
: centre. HM was given a brooch rendering of
: the Province of Ontario coat of arms which
    : has 11 rubies (18 emeralds and 172 diamonds
    : set in platinum).
    :
: This brooch may as well have rubies but I
: have not been able to identify it.
    :
: Hope this helps with your list.
    :
    : Cheers!

: While checking for info on The Crown Rubies,
: I found that Fields wrote that QEII had 6
    : ruby brooches.
