I recall a recent report by Mr Akkermans, a Dutch Jeweller, I believe who stated or provided the theory that the short pearl necklace belonging to Amalia was presented as a gift to Queen Sophie of the Netherlands by the King of Prussia. Many believe this theory is flawed but I thought I mention it here regardless....
--Previous Message-- : The shorter of the two necklaces is probably : the one known as the Orange pearls dating : back to the early 17th century when : ancestress Amalia of Solms, The Princess of : Orange wore them. The pearls were inherited : by her oldest daughter Louise-Henriette of : Orange-Nassau who married Frederick William : the Great Elector and was the mother of : Frederick I, King in Prussia. : : --Previous Message-- : Had do some updates about the Prussian : pear-shaped pearl, it's sayed that Baron : Thyssen-Bornemisza had bought it from the : exiled Emperor Wilhelm II. : : : http://www.royal-magazin.de/german/preussen/kaiserin-vicky-perlen.htm : : :
