Recently, I borrowed a Suzy Menkes book from the local public library. I noticed a picture of a piece of jewel on page 47 (in that book being published in 1985 under the title of "The Royal Jewels"). This piece of jewel as mentioned in the book is labeled as "Fabulous Indian emeralds in a girdle once owned by Maharajah Ranjit Singh. It is in the Queen's possession today." The picture shows a long rectangle set in gold surrounded by tiny pearls and perhaps tiny diamonds with alternating emeralds from one end to another. I don't think the Queen ever is pictured wearing it, isn't she? I was thinking it was a nice piece of jewels that could be altered into something a royal family member could easily wear in public. For example, shorten it into a bracelet. There are some other jewel pieces shown in the pictures in the book which I do not think anyone in the Royal Family ever wore in the last 100 years.
