Interesting how if the Queen leans a bit the 'tassels' move and look crooked. Actually having seen both the real thing and Gill's copy I have to say it is not a favourite of mine at all !! To me it is too big, just big stones with no particular design or styling. In fact am I right in thinking it is an old brooch, I think the stones have an old (rose?) cut on them so they are not always as sparkly as a modern cut. Oh isn't it a good job we are all different with different taste --Previous Message-- : I have an exact copy of this brooch (bought : from the Royal Collection shop) and believe : me, it is a real attention grabber. Everyone : loves it when I wear it. : : [In fact I've been - jokingly - asked twice : today if I lent it HM to wear!] : : : --Previous Message-- : Thanks Maridje...I love that brooch!!!!. : : Its definitely a statement making piece..I : am the Queen and I rule everyone else : seemed pretty casual after such statement : : : : --Previous Message-- : She wore the same brooch : : : : : : : --Previous Message-- : Yes, I've seen a slightly closer photo and : it : is the Turkish one on this dress. : : As pointed out on the blog for Her Majesty's : Jewel Vault, this brooch was a favourite of : the late Queen Mother and no doubt HM is : honouring the role played by her parents : throughout WWII. : : Let's hope this splendour carries on this : evening, too... : : --Previous Message-- : This is a group photo of world leaders. The : coat has come off, but on the dress I can't : tell if the brooch is the same or not ? : : a : : --Previous Message-- : is this the first time it's been worn on day : clothing? : : : : : : : : : :
