.. is how it is now recorded in The Queen's Diamonds. And we used to call it the waterfall, of course. Roberts says it begins with an entry in the Garrard ledger in 1856, for remodelling of an existing diamond ornament. The centre is likely to have come from a gift of diamonds from the Sultan of Turkey so it could be quite old. It is a large emerald-cut brilliant, (but that migth have been after recutting). Riberts sayus --Previous Message-- : Interesting how if the Queen leans a bit the : 'tassels' move and look crooked. : : Actually having seen both the real thing and : Gill's copy I have to say it is not a : favourite of mine at all !! To me it is too : big, just big stones with no particular : design or styling. : In fact am I right in thinking it is an old : brooch, I think the stones have an old : (rose?) cut on them so they are not always : as sparkly as a modern cut. : : Oh isn't it a good job we are all different : with different taste
