    (Edited for clarity)

As part of my "day job", I had an opportunity to participate in a small portion of the Toronto tour and had the opportunity to see the brooch up close. (Of course, while pretending I was not trying to angle for a closer look. ) Remembering the board's discussion on whether it was an old or a new piece after it debuted in Northern Ireland, I took the opportunity to ask the appropriate person afterward about the origins of the brooch and that was the response I received. I did post about it shortly thereafter.

: and also on "From Her Majesty's Jewel
: Vault") It could get confusing if it
: has another name only on this board.

    : That is basically it.
    :
: I have confirmed that it was a
: "private" gift to the Queen to
: mark her Diamond Wedding Anniversary in
: 2007, but as it was deemed a private gift it
: would not be confirmed from whom it was
    : given.

: Could you elaborate on the origin of this
    : brooch please?

: Are we back to the "Irish
    : Blossom"?
: I thought we "officially" (well,
: as officially as we can get around here)
: decided to re-christen this the Diamond
    : Wedding Anniversary/Diamond Wedding brooch
: once the origin became clear.

: HM is wearing the Irish Blossom today, to
    : open
: the flower marked named in her honour, in
: France. It is on a beige bucle jacket, and I
: feel it is a bit lost, but still pleased to
    : see it being worn.
