Nellie, one doesn't need a training to post the information on FB, of course, you need the proper information to post. It's the platform which is very easy to manage and one hasn't to learn/use a content-managing-tool.
I wholeheartedly agree with LittleMo about today's use of FB (as I already wrote in my post further up) and the benefit for companies and organizations. I only can encourage you to try and establish your own FB account - you don't have to post personal information/pictures etc. on FB. There are ways to keep it very 'secret' .
I for myself use it as a personal 'information-channel' by having subscribed different organisation's FB news, among others the British Royal FB site, the Norwegian Royal FB site, the Swedish etc. It's very interesting...
And concerning 'why they have to ask'... I like it having the opportunity to tell my wishes. It's great not only to get the bits 'they' think they have to interest me, isn't it?
