Dona Isabel family heritage earrings and some more Archived Message

Jorge, thank you, how wonderful you took the time to order the earrings we have been posting here and make this display of the Braganza earrings!
Wow, its fabulous the amount of beautiful pieces that Dona Isabel has at her disposal. And her collection keeps growing .

Here are some more: (the pictures are scanned from Caras and Flash magazines, they are obviously not as clear or large as I would want them to be...)

    23. Unknown long diamond earrings

Dona Isabel wore these ones once, to my knowledge, to a gala at Ajuda Palace in December 1995, she was expecting Prince Afonso.

    24. Yellow gold and cabochon amethyst earrings

From the set that the Duchess shared with her mother. Worn in 1997.

    25. Diamond chandelear earrings

Rarely worn by Dona Isabel. Here worn at a party in 2007.

    26. Silver and moonstone(?)/ milky quartz(?) modern earrings.

    27. Diamond and citrine earrings

Worn at the Jantar dos Conjurados 2009 and at Dona Isabel anniversary party in 2011. Really pretty, hope she wears them more often!

As to pic number 8 (round emerald earrings) I am still not convinced that the ones in the second pic are the larger round ones in the first pic. In the second pic the earrings she is wearing look longer and seem to have 2(?) aligned emeralds. Well, I'll just have to wait until Dona Isabel wears them again and hope for a clear bigger pic...

As to pic number 15 (Long floral diamond earrings), acording to an article in Caras magazine in 1996, they belonged to Dona Isabel's maternal grandmother Dona Beatriz da Graça Fernandes Pinheiro de Castro Curvelo (1900-1980). One of the first pics I have of Dona Isabel wearing these earrings was at a ball in late summer 1996 (from Caras magazine). I will have to dig in my older archives to see if I can find any pic of the Duchess wearing them in the early months of her wedding. Note how the earrings seem "dirty" in this picture, like ancient jewels get after been in vaults too long, and in need of a good cleaning. It seems this was certainly one of the first times they were worn in sometime.

They certainly have been a favourite piece of Dona Isabel over the years. My guess is that these family heritage earrings were a wedding gift from her family, namely her mother (most likely hypothesis).
Another hypothesis is that they were a family gift to celebrate the birth of the Prince of Beira (and perhaps thats why the earliest pics I found are from mid 1996 onward).

As to number 16 I totally agree with you, they seem like the lower part of the diamond floral heritage earrings, I thought of that when I first spotted them at the Monaco wedding.
The design matches perfectly, Dona Isabel could have asked her jeweler to make them into convertible earrings, with a long and a short version. They look articulated enough.
But again, as always, we need reliable sources. Perhaps one day Dona Isabel gives an interview on these earrings.

As to number 21 (the Topaz earrings) Dona Isabel has them at least since 2009. She wore them to the ceremony of her aceptance to become patron for the Association for Hemophilia and Blood diseases. These topaz are gorgeous!!

: We already saw many of the unknown jewels from
: the Braganza vaults: tiaras, necklaces,
: rings, brooches and some bracelets. However,
: no jewels collection is truly complete
: without earrings. And that is what I’m going
: to present to you: the Braganza earrings
    : collection.
    :
: Some of them were already referred in
: previous threads and some were never
: properly presented. I’m opting for showing
: all that I know to keep this thread as
: complete as possible. Hope you enjoy.

    :
: This is the best image I have of these
: earrings and I’m not sure if they contain,
: in fact, diamonds or if the black bead is a
    : pearl.

    : 4. Pearl Studs
    :
: The lady in the image is Infanta D.Filipa,
: aunt of D.Duarte (sister of his father).
: D.Filipa never married and left to D.Duarte
: some belongings like an amazing mansion in
: Algarve and the famous brooch that D.Isabel
: uses so much. As a curiosity I must say that
: the Mansion nowadays is used as a summer
: residence of the Portuguese Royal Family.
: When the Royal Family is not in the
: property, the house is available for rent (
    : Link ).
: As far as I know D.Isabel never used these
: earrings but with so many valuable things
: that the Infanta left to her nephew is not
: strange to believe that these earrings were
: also part of the inheritance.

    :
    : 6.Maria Francisca Modern demi-parure
    :
    : This demi-parure was a present from D.Duarte
: to D.Isabel to celebrate the birth of their
: daughter, Infanta D.Maria Francisca. Small
: pearls probably set in silver.

    :
: These are the oldest known emerald earrings
: present in the Braganza collection. The late
: Duchess wore them very frequently. I think
: that D.Isabel used these earrings once but
: unfortunately I lost, many years ago, the
: picture so I do not have how to be sure.

    :
    : 12. Indian set
    :
: This set, comprising necklace and matching
: earrings, both made of solid gold, was a

: 15. Long Floral diamond earrings
    :
: These earrings are very used by D.Isabel
: and, for that reason, are some of the best
: known diamond earrings in her collection.
: They were maybe a wedding present (once
    : again: who knows?).
    :
    :
    :
    :
    :
: 16. Short Floral diamond earrings
    :
: This number 16 is quite tricky: are these
: earrings the short version (the bottom) of
: the earrings of the number 15 or a
: completely different pair? I already thought
: both things and today I’m not sure what to
: think about. What do you think?

    :
: This set, comprising a necklace and matching

    : D.Duarte and D.Isabel.

    :

: 19. Long vegetalist diamond earrings
    :
: These earrings are used very often by

    : mother-in-law with them.

    : 20. Luxembourg diamond earrings
    :
: These earrings were used for the first time
: at the pre-wedding gala of the Hereditary
: Grand Duke of Luxembourg, hence the name.
: They are, apparently, made with large
: diamond drops suspended from an all diamond
    : structure.

    :
    :

    : Other earrings
    :
    :
    : 21. Topaz (?) drop earrings
    :
: These earrings were used for the first time
: (as far as I know) at the traditional Jantar
: de Reis (Kings Dinner) at the Portuguese
: city of Braga (January 2014).
    :
    :
    :
: 22. Cachabon green stone earrings
    :
: These earrings were used more often in the
: earlier years of marriage. Not sure what
    : stone it may be.
    :
    :
    :
    :
    :
: And that’s all I got about the Braganza
: earrings. Did I forgot something?
