I don't know if that has ever been published, but looking at photographs it seems to be a logical and likely conclusion.
The original gift shown in its presentation case consisted of a necklace with earrings and either a brooch or ring.
The photo on the left is a detail of one originally posted by Nellie showing HM in Vancouver in 1983. The one on the right (Edmonton, 2005) shows how the jewels are worn today. Comparing the two pics we can see that the necklace has been shortened and the earrings are different.
The earrings worn in recent years are surely motifs removed from the necklace.
The bracelet worn with the suite was not part of the original gift but is composed of three oval sapphires which have matching color and gold prong settings with the stones in the necklace. These are undoubtedly the original earrings and ring which have never been seen since the bracelet appeared.
