I don't think the brooches are all the same either. There is no need for them to be just one.

: To my eye Camilla's badge has differences to
: Diana's and QEII is different again.

: We can reverse the question: why would the
: regiment have had three brooches made, while
    : one is far enough?
    :
    : According to Wikipedia (
    :
: ), the Duke of Edinburgh was colonel of the
    : Welsh Guards from 1953 to 1975. From 1975
: until today, the colonel is the Prince of
: Wales. So that would make sense that the
: wife of the colonel (Queen Elizabeth II on
: the 1966 picture that you have posted,
: Princess Diana in the 1980-1990s and Camilla
: after 2005) is entitled to wear this brooch.
    :
: And as the leek is a Welsh symbol, it is of
: course even more obviously understandable
: for Diana and Camilla to wear this
: brooch/badge, in their quality of Princesses
: of Wales (though Camilla, for the reasons
: everyone knows, chose not to wear this
    : title).

: Why would you think all 3 women wore the
    : same
    : badge?
: Surely each royal would have her own badge
    : given by the regiment.

    : Hello Joye,
    :
: I have no information about this leek badge,
: and whether the Guards were invited to
    : contribute financially to it.
    :
: It is interesting to note that this samll
: brooch/badge was worn by Queen Elizabeth II,
: Diana Princess of Wales and Camilla Duchess
: of Cornwall (so, one of the very few jewels
: which have been worn by Prince Charles' both
    : wives).

: wears the diamond leek badge of Welsh
    : Guards.
: The caption says each guardsman paid 12c and
: a half pence toward the regimental gift.
: Might there be more info on this please?
