This brooch is a gift from the shipbuilders and owners when Princess Elizabeth launched the British Princess, an oil tanker in 1946. It is a "platinum-set chrysanthemum brooch with sapphire stamens and diamond petals and stem." This description coming from Field, p.121. The picture I believe is from the Queen's Christmas broadcast given at Sandringham in 1952. --Previous Message-- : I came across this picture of HM in 1952. : I was wondering if anyone can make out which : brooch (if it is even a brooch) she might be : wearing. : : If I had to hazard a guess, I would say it : is one of the sapphire and gold floral clips : (photographed at a weird angle) but, like I : said, only a guess. : : Does anyone have any better insight? : : : : : Thanks. : Cheers! : Bryce :
