I am so grateful to all who have contributed information to this very interesting thread. I have learnt so much, thank you.
I hope that, as others find information in the future, they will share the details with us, as I suspect there are interesting details which have yet to be written about on this board.
Many thanks for clarifying what jet is Mauriz, and how substitutes were made. The details you provided on court mourning in Brunswick highlights how micro managed the issue of court mourning was at the time. Madame Etiquette at her most dictatorial, as Marie Antoinette might have said! I am sure that other courts also had similar detailed rules. Many thanks Arthur for the photos of Queen Mary, then Duchess of York, during the ceremonies associated with the opening of the Commonwealth of Australia's first parliament.
Nellie's detailed description of the jewels QM wore gave us all the opportunity to know the details of the jewels, and this was enhanced by your photos.
The painting of the opening ceremony is well known here, as are some photos of that event - but the photos were taken at a distance and QM's jewels are not distinct in them.
